Suzanne Rich Folsom: An Unsung Story of Commitment to Good Governance

Suzanne Folsom is an award-winning General Counsel, Board Member and Chief Compliance Officer with an exceptional public speaking ability and several published articles to her name. She’s also a passionate mentor who fights for diversity in the workplace, and she was recognized with the Anastasia D. Kelly Award by InsideCounsel Magazine in 2015 for her commitment to bringing women to senior leadership roles.

Previously, Suzanne Folsom served as the General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and SVP of Government Affairs and Global Public Policy at the iconic United States Steel Corporation. Before that, she worked with AIG (American International Group) as Chief Regulatory and Compliance Officer and Deputy General Counsel.

Alongside other women in high-level positions, Mrs. Folsom implemented regulatory and compliance processes that helped stabilize and turn around the company. Though she has received praise for her efforts at AIG from influential figures such as attorney Ty Cobb, the story of the women who helped stabilize AIG is still unknown to most.

These women faced scrutiny and pushback, but they continued to do the right thing and pull the company out of the crisis without one asset being seized.  Stasia Kelly and Paula Reynolds led the group with Suzanne Rich Folsom, Chris Mallus and others playing pivotal roles.

Suzanne Folsom: Ethical Corporate Governance Leader

Suzanne Folsom is an award-winning Board Member, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer with decades of international experience. She has an excellent reputation and is known for her results-oriented business leadership. As a corporate governance expert, Mrs. Folsom understands the importance of ethical governance and why it’s critical in corporate America.

Under the watch of seasoned leaders like Suzanne Folsom, ethical corporate governance ensures that an organization’s policies and processes are in alignment with issues concerning diversity, anti-corruption, and the expected conduct of senior members.

Though many organizations claim to implement ethical corporate governance, senior members of companies are often seen as exempt from normal policies, which understandably can begin the crossover into the realms of unethical behavior.

A multifaceted approach to ethical governance implemented and led by professionals like Mrs. Folsom can eliminate these issues, bringing the organization’s corporate governance and ethics into alignment.
